ROXANN “ROXY” HYATT-ROGERS
Vice President, Wine Buyer
I left my career in social work and began my career here at Wells approximately 7 years ago after my father, Mike Hyatt, suffered a traumatic brain injury forcing him to have to medically retire.
I will be the 3rd generation to run Wells. I have always been very close with my parents and always admired my father’s passion for this business.
In 1991, we moved from Dallas, Texas to Baltimore so my father could run Wells for my Poppy which allowed my mother and I to move back to her hometown and be close to our family here in Baltimore.
I attended Stoneleigh Elementary, Loch Raven Middle School, Baltimore Lutheran and graduated from Towson High. In high school, I began working as a cashier here at Wells. During those years, I began to understand how much Wells meant to both my father and mother, so it’s a real honor to be here and follow in their footsteps.
I went on to get my undergraduate degree from Greensboro College and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from University of Maryland School of Social Work.
Since coming back to Wells, I have been doing the buying and learning the ins and outs of running a business. I continued to really enjoy learning about the history of both wine and bourbon production. I have found that I have a soft spot for small family run wineries and distilleries. The best of my job is the relationships I made with our customers and my sales team. Currently I have been loving Rosè. There is nothing better than pouring a glass or 3 of Rosè on these hot Baltimore summer days. I have also found a love for Rye as I find it more complex and enjoy the variety of flavors found on the palate.
